My Creative Journey

As far as I can remember, I’ve always had a strong inclination to create. As a child, I transformed a crayon box into a purse. As a high schooler, I hand-crafted graduation cards specific to the local high schools and sold them at a gift boutique. After the birth of my firstborn, I spent hours scrapbooking her daily life. When I decided to leave my teaching career to be a stay-at-home mom, I learned how to make beaded jewelry to save money on Christmas gifts.

It wasn’t long before I started selling my pieces in teacher’s lounges, boutiques, home parties, craft fairs, and on Etsy. This decade-long business, though successful, fell by the wayside as the demands of being a mother of four young kids took precedence.

When we moved to Iowa in 2016, I decided to start a creative business teaching DIY wood signs workshops. I enjoyed sparking other people’s creativity with my events; however, it left my own artistic soul longing for more.

After acquiring a set of watercolor brush pens, I rediscovered my penchant for portraiture. My home studio allows me to paint as much as possible and expand my practice into different art media such as encaustic, acrylic, and oil.

As you can see, my path to the art world has been filled with stops, detours, and discoveries along the way. I truly believe that there is no end destination. I will continue to grow as a creative person - constantly learning new techniques and changing up my style. I am honored that you are here to witness my artistic journey and invite you to stay a while!
