Lori Fowler is a Midwest artist painting in her Northrup King Building studio located in NE Minneapolis, Minnesota. She works primarily in encaustic and incorporates other wax-friendly media (such as ink, oil, pastel, graphite) within the wax layers.
Lori’s art journey began in high school, which fortunately had a stellar art department. Her four years of high school art honed her drawing skills in realism, thus sparking her love of portraiture. In college, Lori earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s in Child Development. This led her into the field of early childhood education and away from art all together. It was not until 20+ years and four kids later when she would rekindle her passion for fine arts and begin a consistent creative practice.
In 2023, Lori moved to Minneapolis, which opened many doors for sharing her creations with the world. Her paintings have been accepted in juried exhibits at the MSP International Airport, Minnesota Zoo (Apple Valley, MN), Hopkins Center for the Arts (Hopkins, MN), White Bear Center for the Arts, Artistry (Bloomington, MN), Studio Pintura (Minneapolis, MN), Robbin Gallery (Robbinsdale, MN), Argyle Zebra Gallery (St Paul, MN), and, most notably, 2026 MN State Fair’s Fine Art Competition. She has won several exhibition awards for her work. Fowler also directly connects with art enthusiasts at juried art fairs in the Twin Cities (Edina Art Fair, Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, Powderhorn Art Fair, City of Lakes, and St Louis Park Art Fair), as well as Minneapolis’ Art-A-Whirl and Art Attack.
Lori Fowler is represented by Edgewood Orchard Galleries in Door County Wisconsin. In January 2027, she will join the artist roster at Gladje Gallery (Lindstrom, MN).
