Celebrate the special moments & people in your life
I’m honored to create meaningful art the will become a treasured heirloom.
Let’s get started!
Please contact me so I can book your commission on my calendar. I only take a limited number of custom orders per month since I put a lot of heart and time into each piece. If you are looking to receive the art piece by a particular date or holiday, then time is of essence. I require a $50 deposit upon booking.
*Deadline for CHRISTMAS delivery is November 15. Bookings after that date cannot be guaranteed by the holidays. However, I am happy to send you a “custom portrait is coming” certificate to present as a gift so that your loved one knows how thoughtful you are.
Gift Certificates are also available! This is the perfect option if you’d rather have the recipient choose the photo, style, and color palette. All you need to choose is the portrait size.
What I need from you
Email 3-5 clear, quality photos to firstname.lastname@example.org. From those options I will choose the image that best translates into art. Of course, if you have a particular photo in mind, I am happy to oblige. However, I reserve the right to determine if it can serve as a reference for my painting process. Please be aware that professional images can only be used if you purchased the rights or have the photographer’s written consent.
Not sure which pictures to send? Start with your favorite snapshots. If it evokes emotion or triggers a fond memory, then that’s a telltale sign that it’s worthy of art status. Faces do not need to be smiling or looking directly at the camera. In fact, I find that the most captivating portraits are ones in which the subject(s) is(are) not posed. Also, in order to insure likeness of the person(s) the photo should have clear facial details.
Please let me know if you desire a particular color palette. You can also browse my portfolio to see if there is a particular style you are interested in.
What to expect
My portraits are primarily watercolor with a bit of ink and collage, if deemed necessary. Only high quality artist-grade paints are used on an archival 140lb cold-pressed watercolor paper. The finished painting will be sealed with a UV-protectant. I currently do not provide a mat or frame for custom portraits. However, if you do not want to deal with framing I can mount the painting on a 1.5” cradle board and seal it with varnish. This can be more cost effective than custom framing. If you are interested in this mounting option, I can give you a quote based on painting size. (Note: unfortunately this is not available for the 22x30 size)
Turnaround time is typically 3-4 weeks from receipt of the reference photos. I will send you a work in progress photo so you can join me in the exciting creative process. Once the painting is finished I will email you photos of the artwork.
